Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Yasmin has lived most of her life in New England. Raised in an artistic and design-conscious family, she spent her childhood immersed in a culturally rich home surrounded by modern furniture and art. In 1986 she entered the Rhode Island School of Design to major in film. Yasmin took time off to pursue composing, recording and playing rock music before completing her studies. It was while finishing her BFA at RISD that she took an elective class in metal smithing and found a new voice in jewelry design. Inspired by the innumerable possibilities of bodily adornment that jewelry offers, she established her studio, yasminkuhndesign in 2005.
Yasmin Kuhn’s jewelry is simple and elegant, exhibiting vivid use of shape, color and materials. All of her pieces can be worn casually, but even the moderately priced pieces offer the look of a refined, higher-end line. Yasmin works in silver as well as glass, rubber, leather, Lucite and shell. Her pieces range from light and delicate to deliberate and bold, all exquisitely crafted. Her work mirrors her personality, playful yet sophisticated.
She currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island with her family.
